Dr. Deng’s research is dedicated to advancing theories and techniques for the stability and reliability analysis and design of underground excavations, structural elements, and engineering systems. His efforts also focus on developing new models and tools to enhance the understanding of dynamic instability, geohazards, and probabilistic reliability in civil and mining engineering structures.

The practical applications of Dr. Deng’s research extend to dynamic stability and reliability considerations in underground structures, foundations, and slopes within geotechnical and mining engineering. Additionally, his work addresses geohazards, dynamic instability, and reliability of structures subjected to loadings induced by earthquakes, blasting, and wind turbulence in civil engineering.

Dr. Deng’s contributions are evident in his publication record, with over 90 authored and co-authored journal publications. His excellence in research has been recognized through several awards, including the Best Paper Award, the Outstanding PhD Dissertation Award, and Best Presentation Award. These accolades underscore the impact of Dr. Deng’s guidance and contributions to both research excellence and student development.
